Metal Deactivators

Metal Deactivators prevent metal catalysis by binding metal ions and thus preventing the decomposition of products and oxidation in organic materials in the polymer and lubricant industry.

Metal Deactivators in the polymer industry help to suppress the decomposition of peroxides in the presence of metals and thus oxidative attacks. On the other hand, they form a passivating protective film, which prevents catalytic reactions of the metal.

Metal Deactivators of the LUBIO® MD series have a positive effect on the service life of plastics that are exposed to the ageing effects of metal surfaces. LUBIO® MD 3 is based on a triazole derivative, while LUBIO® MD 5 is a hydrazine derivative

All metal deactivators for the polymer industry at a glance:

Metal Deactivators are chemical compounds that complex metal ions and thus inhibit their catalytic activity. Metal deactivators bind to metal ions such as copper, iron or nickel by forming coordination bonds, thus preventing their undesirable reactions. This reduces the formation of deposits in engines and catalytic converter systems, resulting in improved performance and service life.
