In addition, antioxidants protect against thermal ageing and serve as process stabilisers during plastics processing by acting either as radical scavengers or as reducing agents.

Acid is formed in lubricants through radical-induced oxidation, which leads to molecular degradation and ultimately to the failure of the lubricant. Antioxidants from LUBIO^® AO series convert the triggering radicals into stable compounds.
