Antioxidants are a key component of modern coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomer formulations (CASE). They make a decisive contribution to polymer stabilization and thus to the service life and performance of the respective products. Since CASE materials are often exposed to oxidative stress during use, the risk of radical-induced oxidation increases. This leads to molecular degradation of the polymers, which can manifest itself in embrittlement, color changes, loss of adhesive strength, or reduced sealing effectiveness.
This process can be significantly slowed down through the targeted use of suitable antioxidants for coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers. Antioxidants neutralize reactive radicals or convert them into stable compounds. In this way, they prevent chain-like degradation processes and increase the material resistance, weather stability, and thermal and mechanical resilience of the formulations.
Choosing the right antioxidant during the development phase lays the foundation for durable, reliable, and high-quality CASE products, which represents an important competitive advantage in all applications where material protection and product performance are crucial.
